It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Shakespeare last Sunday evening, at the age of 51. As the principal of Corpus Christi, Kevin was a beacon of faith, wisdom, and compassion. His dedication to nurturing young minds and establishing a community of faith rooted in Catholic values will forever be remembered both at Corpus Christi and at Ss Peter and Paul, where he was previously a principal between 2014 – 2019.
Kevin touched countless lives, guiding pupils with a gentle hand and a heart full of love. His commitment to education and spiritual growth has left a legacy with our school and community; the outpouring of messages on social media is testimony to this.
We pray for Sally, his wife, Hollie, Chloe and Jack, his children, Bernie (mum) and his sisters along with his many close friends and wider family who are mourning as this time. Kevin’s devotion to Our Lady was always a presence in his life so we ask for her comfort and compassion to all grieving. There was a lovely shout out for Kevin on CWR after the winning game on Saturday, marking his dedication as a lifelong supporter of Coventry City.
As we mourn the loss of Kevin, we find solace in the promise of eternal life. We pray that God grants him eternal rest and peace, and that his legacy continues to inspire us all. May the angels greet him into paradise, and may his soul rest in the loving embrace of our Lord. Amen
One of the many condolences received this week was a message from Archbishop Bernard Longley, in which he said:
‘I shall keep you and the whole school community in my prayers over the coming days and I shall offer Holy Mass for Mr Shakespeare’s eternal joy among the blessed and for the comfort and strengthening of his family and friends.’
Corpus Christi is fundraising for The Myton Hospices Kevin always referred to the school community as a family and in this spirit the staff team at Corpus Christi will be completing the 5k Myton Moonlight Walk on 4th April 2025 to raise money for Myton Hospice in memory of him. Every penny raised will go towards providing families with more quality time with their loved ones, compassionate and dignified end of life care and specialised support for those who have been bereaved.
