Welcome to 5JK’s class page. We hope you will find the information here useful and informative.
Let’s start by introducing the team. Miss Jordan is new to Corpus Christi this year, having worked previously in a large primary school in Leicestershire. She has spent a lot of time in Year 6 so knows the skills Year 5 children need to develop to enable them to reach their goals for their Key Stage Two SATs in Year 6. Miss Jordan is very excited to be starting her time at Corpus and can’t wait to start getting to know all the children and working with them to achieve their very best.
5JK will also be working closely with Mrs Kirkwood, who is the school’s SENCO. She is a very experienced teacher and will be teaching and supporting the class on various afternoons each week; she is a real asset to the 5JK team. Alongside Miss Jordan and Mrs Kirkwood is Mrs Johnson. She is our full time Teaching Assistant who worked in Year 5 last year, so knows the curriculum well and will be able to support the children in all aspects of their school life. The class will also be supported by Miss Halton, an experienced HLTA who has worked with all the children at various points throughout their time at Corpus. Miss Halton is keen to spend more time getting to know the children in 5JK and is looking forward to working with them.
Throughout the year, reading records and reading books will be sent home daily and will be checked regularly. Children are expected to read each day and record this in their diary. Homework will be sent home every Friday and will be due in the following Wednesday. Spellings will also be sent out every Friday and will be tested the following Thursday.
For more information about 5JK’s weekly schedule, please have a look at the timetable to see which lessons will be happening each day. Please pay particular attention to our PE days. For the first half term, these are Tuesday and Wednesday.
Children should arrive at school promptly between 8.45am and 9am, in the correct uniform and ready to learn. PE kits must be in school on PE days and will be taken home each Friday. Children may bring water bottles into class but these must only contain water and will be taken home at the end of each day. Whilst we are aware that some children own phones, these should not be in their school bags; phones should be handed into the office. Linked to this, if children are not being collected by a parent, written notification of this needs to be given to the class teacher. Children will not be allowed to leave the classroom on their own or with another adult if written notification is not provided – this is for the children’s safety.
Looking to the future, we have lots of exciting events to look forward to, including our trip to Alton Castle. We will keep you updated about this and all other opportunities as the year progresses.
In the meantime, we would like to thank you for your continued support and would like to congratulate all the children on making a great start to the year. We are very much looking forward to working with you and your children this year. We aim to support each and every child to reach their potential and do the very best that they can in all areas of school life. If you have any questions or concerns about anything, please do not hesitate to speak to any one of us.
Miss Jordan, Mrs Kirkwood, Mrs Johnson and Miss Halton.
