Welcome to Y6A’s class page,
We hope you all had a lovely summer and have settled back into the school day routine well. We are very pleased with how the children have become used to the ‘new normal’ and have come back ready for Year 6.
We would like to introduce ourselves as the Y6A team. I am Miss Walker and I am new to Corpus Christi, I have worked at Holy Family Primary School for four years previously. I am really looking forward to being a part of Corpus Christi and being a part of your child’s journey during their last year at primary school. Working alongside me this year is Miss Halton who will be supporting the class every step of the way.
As you are aware, Year Six is the final step on your child’s journey in Key Stage Two. Therefore, expectations are heightened. Your child will be expected to take responsibility for all of their possessions and expectations of behaviour and work ethic are of upmost importance. Your child needs to come to school wearing the correct uniform, following the school policy, including a tie and appropriate black school shoes. In addition to this, your child will need to come to school in their PE kit on a Monday and Friday as these are the days they will have their PE lessons. This should include a white t-shirt, plain black jogging bottoms or shorts, their Corpus Christi jumper/cardigan and trainers.
Your child will receive a home/school folder which will contain an appropriate reading book with a reading record, we expect you to listen to your child read every night and sign the reading record to show evidence of this. We will be checking their reading record on a Thursday to see if they have read every day for the previous week, this will also be the day that they will change their reading book that they have been given. It is really important that both their reading record and reading book are in on this day. Their spellings will also be given out on a Thursday, they will write these in their reading record, they will then be tested on these the following Thursday. It is extremely important that they are practising their spellings everyday at home.
Please look on the timetable to see what lessons we will be doing each day.
If parents or grandparents have any skills that you could offer in any of our subject areas, please let us know. Our first topic is the WW2 and how Coventry was affected. Your help is greatly appreciated.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support with homework and learning opportunities.
I am delighted to be teaching your child this year and if you have any queries, do not hesitate to ask.
