Welcome to Year 6!
This year in year six, we are lucky enough to have not one, but three teachers!
Miss Pollard, who is also our Senior Assistant Vice Principal, teaches us on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Mrs Scullion, who is working across Romero, teaches us on a Friday. Miss Moran will also join the Year 6 team when she returns from her maternity leave at Christmas. We are also supported by Miss Halton who will be with us all week.
We all feel that life in Year 6 should be a mixture of work and play. Yes, we spend time learning to develop our understanding of texts, working our way through tricky maths problems and learning how to write to wow an audience, but our teachers make sure that our curriculum contains lots of chances for us to flourish creatively too. We have exciting opportunities such as Dol Y Moch and a trip to London to look forward to whilst we are striving to achieve our best in our end of Key Stage Two SATs.
Homework will be sent out every Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Spellings will also be given out on a Friday and tested on a Wednesday. Reading records will be regularly checked and children will be expected to read daily.
This half term, year six will be going swimming on a Tuesday: they will need their swimming kit in school every week.
We are very much looking forward to the year ahead in which we hope to believe, achieve and succeed!
