Our Journey in Faith

Our journey in faith starts at home. As parents you are the first and most significant educators in your child’s life. By having your child baptised you have expressed your wish to have them brought up within the Catholic faith. Working in a harmonious partnership of parents, school and the wider parish of Corpus Christi we aspire to nurture the unique qualities of each child and allow them to flourish and grow throughout these early formative years.

By living out our school mission, ‘Walking in Christ’s footsteps, opening hearts and minds’, on a daily basis, we provide a Catholic ethos that is inclusive and allows all children the opportunity to learn and grow, alongside a dedicated staff team.

Through our RE curriculum and Sacramental preparation we guide children on their journey of faith. Each year group follows lessons planned from the Diocesan programme ‘Learning and Growing as God’s People’. Children take part in daily prayer and liturgy and regular liturgical assemblies, as well as celebrating Mass at Church. This ensures the children are brought closer to God through their understanding and knowledge of the teachings of Jesus, so that we all can lead a rich and fulfilling life, walking in Christ’s footsteps.

In Year 3 children prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion through taking part in a sacramental programme delivered together through home, school and church. This allows the Church, through Fr Stephen to work closely with parents during this important time to reinforce the vital role of parents within God’s family during these special celebrations.

Throughout Key Stage Two, pupils are supported and encouraged to become mature and responsible global citizens of the 21st Century. In Year 6, children prepare to become adults in the eyes of the church, by completing the sacramental programme between, home, school and Church with Fr Stephen they are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. By accepting the Holy Spirit and renewing their baptismal promises, that were previous made for them, these young adults have the understanding and knowledge within them formed by the Catholic education they have experienced.

Although academic excellence for all our children is one of our goals, we also value and nurture those God given gifts which make your child unique and special to the Corpus family.

We know that for this journey of faith to be meaningful and successful, we must create an effective partnership with parents and the Church. We feel blessed at Corpus Christi to be well supported by our parish priest, Fr Stephen Fawcett and the families that we serve. Together this will continue to provide the children of Corpus Christi and wider parish the opportunity to grow closer to God through their own individual journey of faith.
