Spring Term

During the spring term our topic is World War II in which we will learn about the cause and effect of war and they key people, places and events from this time. We will focus on history, geography art and dance. This topic will also provide us with many interesting writing opportunities

We need our outdoor PE kits on a Tuesday. Although I would suggest bringing them in on a Monday and taking them home to be washed on Friday, just in case there are any extra PE opportunities throughout the week.

Homework will consist of the tasks on the homework mat such as regular reading and spelling. Maths SATS revision work will be sent home on a Friday and should be handed in on the Monday. Grammar SATS revision work will be sent home on a Monday and should be handed in on Thursday. I would strongly recommend doing extra reading, maths and grammar work with your child as this will assist the work we are doing in class. For advice on this please don’t hesitate to contact us.

In Literacy, we will be using the novel ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ as a stimulus for writing. Genres we will focus on will be poetry, recount writing, writing in role and persuasive writing. .

In Numeracy, we will be securing our calculation methods in all four maths operations and also developing our understanding of reasoning problems.

In RE, we will be focusing on Prayers in the lives of the followers of Christ and preparing for Confirmation

We are looking forward to a productive and exciting term in Year 6. Thank you so much for your support!
